Learning Photography & Class Projects June 2020

Since June, I have been taking a Digital Photography course at Delgado Community College. This isn’t a course I necessarily need for the degree I am returning to LSU in the fall to complete. However, I want to learn more about the world of content creation. I had a great time in my Spring graphic design course. And of course, with the pandemic, I don’t have much other than school to keep me occupied these days.

This is the first photography class I have taken, and it’s been a combination of frustrating and exciting. On one hand, I’m a seasoned iPhone photographer. I’m used to adjusting exposure and focus on a touch screen, with limited manual settings. Further, I’m used to certain photography editing apps.

On the other hand, I have been intimidated by cameras for a long time. I used to think photography was something that you either picked up in high school and got better at in college, or you didn’t do it at all. I saw it more as a natural talent than a skill I could learn. Now I view the camera as a tool, and I am learning how to use it.

The following are some of my favorite images I’ve submitted for class projects so far. The camera I use is Nikon D3200 and (minimal) edits are done in Photoshop.
